I've seen 2 or 3 or thereabouts around Canberra region. I'd describe them as mostly like Eastern Rosellas above but with blue or partly blue cheeks and the red of the front and abdomen more extensive than in a usual Eastern Rosella but also of an untidy arrangement and a rather darker red colour than in a usual Eastern Rosella. Can't say I have much of a sample size as to which one they like to hang out with but the one I recall "hanging out" was with a normal Eastern Rosella. It also just occurs to me as odd that they don't appear to show plumage close to that of juvenile Crimson Rosellas, only a mix of adult Crimson Rosella and an Eastern Rosella. Philip |
