A check of the local (Clarence Valley, North Coast NSW) Black-necked (Satin)
Stork nests revealed one pair on the nest mating, one lone bird standing on a
nest (? male), two empty nests and an adult female with two juveniles (last
season's birds).

At the Lawrence Egret Colony Swamp all breeding activity had finished but a few
young Royal Spoonbills and Australian White Ibis were perched in the trees.
The highlight was a pair of Freckled Ducks, a rare species in the Valley. Eric
Wheeler had seen one at this location in October 2007. At least 19 Pink-eared
Ducks were also present.

Nine Brolgas at Sweeneys Swamp, near Ulmarra and four at Imesons Swamp,
Lawrence, were also of interest.
