Crikey, I thought we had already decided that Lee Point, Buffalo Creek,
Leanyer Ponds, Holmes Jungle etc., etc., were risky places not only to
leave one's vehicle, but also for one's personal safety. You were very
wise to leave one person in the car. Remember next time to leave a BIG
person in the car.

Tony.

This is, I'm sure, old news.

But when I went there I decided to dip rather than have my car broken
into.
I have never seen soo much broken glass in a car park before. Nor have I

seen soo many obvious candidates for car breaking clearly eyeing off my
vehicle whilst driving through the car park (a heavily laden Volvo Cross

Country must have seemed like Christmas, and no I do not own a Volvo).

I did manage a quick look at the beach to see birding heaven, dozens of
Lesser Sand Plovers, some in breeding plumage, Knots, Beach Stone
Curlew,
hundreds of White winged Black terns just beyond the beach. All this
while
my travelling companion (and Volvo owner) stayed with the vehicle.

Sure did put a damper on a magical spot.

Cheers
Graham Turner

Hi all,

Sadly I have to report that a friend of mine had their car broken into
and all their bags stolen at Lee Point in Darwin yesterday while looking
for the Black-headed Gull. I wasn't (and they weren't) aware that the
area has a reputation, at least with the police, of being unsafe. My
friend asked me to post this in case anyone was thinking of going for
the bird soon. They were there from 6-7pm, and when they arrived the
carpark was full, but empty when they left.

They didn't see the gull either.

Regards,
Chris
