Hi all,

I had my first sighting of Swift Parrots for this season today, though not
where I was expecting.

Over the last couple of weeks I had been scanning my local Boweya and
Killawarra Forests. However they are still very dry and hardly anything is
flowering and I have seen none.

This morning I was at Kyffins Reserve which is on the north edge of Lake
Mulwala in southern NSW. To my surprise I heard the Swifties distinctive call
in some lightly flowering Yellow Box. After some searching I found three.

Kyffins reserve is mainly remnant Grey Box/Yellow Box woodland which is grazed.
Camping is also allowed along the lake shore.

Anyway still good to see Swifties, where ever they may turn up.

Michael Ramsey, Wilby, 3728.
