Allen Shatten reported seeing a gull which for the most part, fits an adult
winter plumaged Black-tailed Gull at Waratah Bay at 17.15 yesterday. It was
with Silver Gulls and another gull thought to be a juvenile Kelp Gull. It
was larger than Silver, smaller than the latter. Pacific Gulls were in the
distance. Waratah Bay is on the western side at the base of Wilson's Prom
about 2 and a bit hours drive from Melbourne. The bird was 400 m east of the
boat ramp at the little township of Waratah Bay. He will check again this
morning.
Best looked for at low tide; the high is expected around lunch-time today.
