Well, I had a couple of false starts with my new C&B 2008 checklist!
As I've explained offline to people I sent the list to, I keep my world bird
list on a database which shows a mix of Clements and C&B 2008 English names.
Unfortunately, the the lists I initially sent out, and posted on my website,
were inadvertently copied from that mixed database, instead of from my C&B
database. Accordingly, some of the English names reflected Clements instead of
C&B (eg “Thick-knee” instead of “Stone-curlew”).
I then compounded the felony, by redistributing correctly named lists, but
without correcting the sequence to match C&B 2008! More haste less speed is the
excuse!
Swallowing my embarrassment - everyone who asked for one should now have the
correctly named and sequenced list - and the list on the website should be 100%
accurate!!
If anyone spots so much as a hyphen on the Australian Checklist at
www.abberton.org/lists.htm that does not correspond to C&B 2008, please be kind
enough to let me know straight-away!!
