I haven't had personal experiences with these little beasts ( they
are only Windows compatible and I run a Mac), but they do seem to be
gaining in popularity. There are several makes on the market, so a
bit of research wouldn't go astray. Have a look at

for a few other makes. If you are rich enough to lash out on a Nikon
D1X or D2X camera, Red Hen Systems have a nice little number that
fits onto the flash hot-shoe and link to any Bluetooth enabled GPS
and adds the position to the EXIF data for each JPEG image. I imagine
that it won't be too long before this technology comes standard on
many cameras.
Two things to remember about geo-tagging are;
1. that all these gadgets do is tell you where you were when you took
the photo and that a notebook will do the same, and
2. they are only a fairly cheap GPS and and will share the
limitations of usefulness that cheaper GPS's have, such as loss of
signal due to cloud cover, foliage, ionospherics, etc.
It is an interesting area of technology to watch.
