Hi all
the Pectoral Sandpiper was still in the place where Graham Buchan mentioned
in his post of yesterday at 6:45am this morning (Sun 17 Feb), along with
about 30 Sharpies, 10 Curlew sandpipers and 2 Golden Plover. Also at Mason
Park were 2 Royal Spoonbill and a Mangrove Heron.
I also crossed over to Bicentennial park - in the small pond that feeds off
from the north of Lake Belvedere was a single Glossy Ibis. Plenty of Pied
Stilts at the water bird refuge - looks like they've had a good breeding
season as lots of chicks in various states of growth - and in the mangroves
on the boardwalk a single Mangrove Gerygone. Lots of Chestnut Teal as well
and about a dozen Black Fronted Dotterel on the mud in front of the hide.
Saw a Peregrine twice (once at Mason park, once at Lake Belvedere), both
times carrying a prey item.
Cheers
Tom Wilson
