Hi everyone,

Following a report of 3 "Yellow Wagtails" on Ash Island at the HBOC meeting on
Wed nite by Allen Friis and Brett Shields, myself and Allan Richardson went out
there yesterday afternoon (Thurs) for a look. One of these birds had been
photographed by AF on Wed and this bird was identified as a M. tschutshensis.

We easily found 2 birds along Wagtail Way, but alas only got "windscreen
views", as the birds must have flushed as we prepared the scope and camera. We
were unable to find them again and thus we weren't able to get a positive ID on
them. We did, however, pass Robert McDonald on his way back from looking at the
(presumably) same 2 birds and he was confident that they were both M.
tschutshensis birds.

If anyone would like more info, contact me off-list.

Also present were quite a few flighty Eastern Curlew, 20+ Greenshanks and more
Aussie Pipits than you could poke a stick at!

Mick Roderick
