Seven people, including some repeats from yesterday, had two good views of the
Lewin's from the southern platform between 7 and 7.30 this morning. Later than
usual but no one arrived till 6.30.

It came out of the gap between the large reeds and the fine reeds opposite the
platform and walked/ran to the left along the edge till it was out of sight.
20 minutes later it came back the same way and disappeared into where it came
out from the first time. Until the water level falls this definitely seems to
be the area to watch most closely.

Two or three Spotless Crakes were seen, but only briefly.

I had no luck last night around 8.30pm, but did see a Song Thrush come down for
a drink.

The water level seems to be dropping less than a centimetre a day, so it's not
looking good for next week with rain forecast for Monday through Thursday.

Some brief location details, for those who missed them earlier: Altona, Melway
ref 54 C10, immediately behind the girls' school. Most people are parking at
the corner of Galvin St and Civic Pde.
