I haven't used the Tanami Track but I have travelled reasonably extensively
in northwest and central Australia and I came across Subaru Foresters in
quite remote locations.
The main problem with Subaru's is lack of clearance and we saw a few
Foresters in trouble in deep sand and/or deeply rutted tracks. That
shouldn't be a problem on the Tanami Track as it is a well-maintained dirt
road rather than a 4WD track. The major obstacle will be corrugations and
they are removed by regular grading.
Check on the conditions with locals and, as long as you take normal
precautions, you shouldn't have any problems.

Gooday birders
Can anyone out there tell me if it is possible and safe (or suicide) to
drive a Subaru Forester along the full length of the Tanami Desert Road.
My next RFI may be for Princess Parrot info so then you will see where
this and the swag info is going.
