Darwin to Brisbane

Dear All
Michael and I are driving from Darwin to Brisbane, through Mt Isa and then
down to Longreach.  I¹ve flown the route many times but never been by
vehicle.  Are there any good camping spots along the Tablelands Highway?
What about Anthony¹s Lagoon?

And could anyone tell us the best birding/natural history route from
Longreach to Brisbane, bearing in mind we¹ll be in a 2WD?
