Gooday all
Howard and Monroe (2003) on p14 say "We urge our readers, especially
those in the Americas and Australasia, to reconsider the tendency to use
hyphens so widely." Apparently we don't consider some "rules of grammar"
and it makes indexing difficult.
Just my two bobs worth to the thread.

Subject: Capitalisation in hyphenated names
Two separate questions here. The first was about capitalisation with
hyphenated names. I think my reasoning is sound. Cuckoo-shrike,
Shrike-tit, Black-Cockatoo, Bronze-Cuckoo are other examples. It works
in
other countries as well - Scrub-Jay, Paradise-Flycatcher etc.
The new, second question is why do we have Heathwren, Scrubwren,
Fairy-wren, King Parrot and King-Parrot - i.e. inconsistent use of the
hyphen?
I'm not going there at all!
