Thanks for that news Mike. It is a very auspicious bird. It may or
may not be your 800th tick for Australia, but it is nice to see that
the faith of the field guide authors is rewarded. It reminds us never
to take the birds we observe for granted.

A Eurasian Curlew was seen and photographed at Eighty Mile Beach, west
of Broome, WA, today by members of the AWSG during a banding activity.
Chris Hassell found it and some 20 observers, including Adrian Boyle
and Frank O'Connor, saw it. Although long expected and several
previous unconfirmed reports this is likely to be the first for
Australia.
