Hi All,
Have just spoken to Adrian Boyle who was buzzing with the excitement of yet
another new bird for Australia. He asked me to pass on a little more info on
the Eurasian Curlew seen today on Eighty Mile Beach, NW WA. It was seen well by
a number of people (see Mike's email below) and it sounds like some excellent
photographs were obtained. It was not found about three hours later when a
larger group from the AWSG searched for it. The team is not catching tomorrow
so further attempts will be made to relocate it and an update on the outcome of
this search will be posted tomorrow evening (WA time). Anybody hoping to visit
should hold off until after this update. The site is accessed via private
property and permission to visit is essential. The Broome birders have offered
to co-ordinate permission for any access attempt in the coming days so please
do not contact the station directly.
Cheers,
Rohan Clarke
