Hello all,
Further to my observations of a few months ago of Pied and Sooty
Oystercatchers feeding in soft lawn.
The other day at Dover (50km S. Hobart, TAS- the same place I watched
the behaviour before) I observed a pair of Pied Oystercatchers and one
lone Sooty Oystercatcher feeding in lawn. The Sooty was wary however,
and stopped as soon as I pulled up and poked a camera out the window. I
got some photos of the Sooty with its bill covered in the tell-tale mud,
but that was all. Once again, it was after some fairly heavy rain in the
morning.
Cheers
Mick Todd
