Miga Lake about about 45 km to south west was a good spot when I was there a few years ago. The lake has a good approach & some cover that enables fairly close views.
Good luck with the birds & the rocks.

Birders,

I'm off to Victoria for a rock climbing pilgrimage to Mt Arapiles,
which is up near Little Desert, at the end of the month. This is an
area I've virtually never birded so I'll definitely be having a poke
around on my rest days. Most of the birds I haven't seen from down
there are big waterbirds (ducks and goose) and parrots. Does anyone
have any suggestions on where to find either of those? Particularly
wetlands and other watery spots, mostly just because I like them.
