Sea sickness and Antarctic trip?

While we're on the subject of sea sickness....

My mum has always wanted to go on a cruise to the Antarctic. However, she is afraid that she will get seasick and spend the whole time too miserable to see anything. She has been seasick a bit in the past, but only when it gets a bit rough (which I gather it can in sub-Antarctic waters :-))

Can you take sea sickness remedies for a couple of weeks without major ill effects? Has anyone on the list done it (successfully)? Any other recommendations?

Cheers, Koren
