Hi Folks, with the recent rains up here in SEQ there is a flurry of nest
building/nesting activity from the Peregrines in the city (Brisbane) to
various parrots, honeyeaters, plovers & my local pair of Bush
Stone-curlews in Mowbray Park in East Brisbane.

This park is less than 2 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD and one of
the pair is brooding on a large patch of wood-chip less than 12 metres
from the very busy Lytton Road. Last year 2 eggs hatched but the young
weren't successfully raised. It was their first go in the park so I'm
hoping for a better result this year & will be talking to any dog owners
I see with unleashed dogs.Up herein Brisbane, we are proud of the fact
that we still have a fairly healthy population of these glorious birds.
I put it down to the large amount of parks & reserves we have in this
green city, not to mention golf courses. Cheers - Paul W.
