In 2005 I stopped at a property near the Adelaide Gate in far NW NSW (the
Adeiade Gate is of course a gate in the dog-fence along the border). The
woman I spoke to, in the course of conversation, told me that in 1974 there
were huge floods in that neck of the woods and that the Bulloo Overflow
overflowed south, destroying the fence in the process. After that dingoes
got into the nw corner of NSW and as a consequence she and her husband had
to switch from sheep to cattle on their property.
