Fiona mentions the distribution of Hobby's near central Melbourne. There
are in fact raptors right in town...
Within a few hundred metres of my office here in East Melbourne we have
recorded
- Nankeen Kestrel, breeding on the Australian Catholic University building
in Victoria Pde.
- Peregrine Falcon, a pair in the city area, and
- Hobby breeding in past years in the tall trees of the Fitzroy Gardens
Always worth keeping an eye (and ear) out for city birdlife...and don't
forget to forward your sightings to the bird atlas...
cheers, Martin
