Hi Paul
Leith and I spent three weeks in Viet Nam in 2005 and so can give you a little
info.
In general we saw very few birds - except in the National Parks. The parks
were great. We went to Cat Tien NP in the south, Bach Ma in the central region
and Cuc Phuong in the north. We also had a few days in Da Lat which had a few
more birds that HoChi Minh or Ha Noi, and the nearby Mt LangBiang was fairly
good when we walked off the main road and into the forest.
We made all arrangements throug Vietam Travel, in HCMC, dealing with Mr Nguyen
Van Viet
He provided drivers to get to the National Parks, which seem difficult to
access otherwise.
Cheers
Peter

Subject: RFI: Viet Nam
Hi all,
in October this year I will be spending a few days working in Viet Nam (Hoi
An, on the coast about the middle of the country).
After that I will have about three days free and I have a rough plan to
travel overland either north to Hanoi or south to Ho Chi Minh City and fly
out from there.
I am asking if anyone on the list could make any birding recommendations? I
know that's a very vague question but am open to any ssuggestions. I have
never been birding 'in 'mainland' Asia before so pretty much everything will
be new to me.
Any suggestions re. good 'national parks' or similar would be appreciated,
but ease of access would be uselul as at this stage I have no idea how I
will be travelling.
thanks in advance.
Paul.
