Was surprised to see an Olive-backed Oriole just down the road from my place (Bulahdelah,NSW) today. Not sure if this is an early arrival or one that has overwintered. Lots of Orioles overwintered in the Newcastle area in 2005 but this is the first one I've seen around here since February, making me think it's an early arrival.

Two days ago a young Olive-backed Oriole (with broken eye ring) flew into my garden and drank from the birth bath - first time I've seen one drinking here. I've seen immatures and adults in the Gloucester area (inland from mid North Coast NSW) over wintering several times in the past and this year had adults calling in June and early July.
