Barking Owls

Hello all,

My first encounter with this neat owl was while fishing at night on the north 
shore of Coal & Candle Creek  in Ku-ring-gai NP. I have since heard or seen 
them at Crookwell ,Stannix Park, three times in Kakadu NP. and , I strongly 
suspect, last week. As I no longer sleep well I often spend  hours listening 
for night birds ,and heard the distinctive call about 0320 on Thursday 12th 
July, o7.
The calls appeared to come from an area on the western slope of Red Hill which 
is a couple of K's north of Beacon Hill , in the northern  Sydney suburb of 
French's Forest . I only report this unsubstantiated incident because of the 
current interest . Some years ago a Sydney  newspaper carried a report 
headlined "The Screaming Woman Of French's Forest", an owl was seen in the 
vicinity
