Hi all
On Sat 14 Jul I spent a couple of hours in Centennial Park on a mild and
sunny late morning, with a few interesting sightings.
Corellas always seem to be present in the park these days but this was
the first time I had seen a 'segregated' flock of 22 Long-billeds, all
paired up and feeding on the ground with no Little Corellas in tow, but
plenty of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos. (A smaller number of Little
Corellas appeared later in the morning to join them). Some great
'wrestling' play by the pairs as they dug around in the lawns. The birds
were easily approached to within as little as 2 metres.
Also seen was a flock of 14 Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos, a
white-backed Magpie, and an interesting pied variant Crested Pigeon who
has been around for at least a year now on the Queens Park side of the
park.
