Hi Ian Avoiding a taxation approach is one reason for emissions trading - the more important one being to provide an international system for setting a market price for carbon. This was a key point of the Kyoto protocol of 1997 which unfortunately both major political parties chose not to highlight in the wasted years while Australia held up its coming into force. The carbon issue has been known for over 30 years and no mystical reference to "cycles" refutes the evidence. OK where you live you will probably suffer most from tropical storms - and probably a whole suite of New Guinea birds moving south to become Australian ticks. If "we" take action now there may be fewer ticks than might have become possible. Michael Norris Melbourne |
