Birders,
I've started a new job this week with Sydney Water. One of the major
advantages of this posting is the possibilities for a work site list.
Birds at my last job were limited, being in an industrial complex near
Blacktown NSW. (NoMi, InMy, PiCu, SpTD, CrPi, RaLo, WhIb, AuRa, MaLW,
CoSt, WiWa, PeWe)
Sydney Water owns a number of sites around Sydney already familiar to
a lot of birders, McGraths Hill for example. Today I spent the day at
Birrong, South of Auburn in the Western Suburbs. And during just one
day I saw all of the above on the grounds, plus a lone Whistling Kite.
My fellow employees weren't nearly as interested as I was, but a good
start none the less. The potential for a few beauties, and maybe even
a tick, is a tantalising one, with sites spread around a few famous
STPs and a few on the coast! An excellent fringe benefit.
