Hello Birding Ausers.
At the end of August-mid September I plan on travelling to some parts of
southern New South Wales and was hoping that some of you good folk might be
able to assist me with a few sites.
For example, the first stage of the trip will take me to an area somewhere
in the vicinity of Coonabarabran and Gilgandra, along the Newell Highway.
Can anyone tell me if and where there is a good place to camp and do a
morning?s birdwatching along here?
Also, can anyone please tell me the state of Lake Cargelligo (i.e. water)
and whether it is worth going out of one?s way for?
Next, I will be spending a few days in the Leeton and Mathoura area looking
for Superb Parrot. What I need to know is whether this is a good time to be
looking for them around this area?
I?m also dropping into Terrick Terrick NP. I understand that the best place
here to look for the Plains Wanderer is in the north-eastern section of the
park, i.e. the newly acquired part. Is this so, are there any tricks to
locating these birds?
Finally, on the way back from Scotia Sanctuary, on the western edge of New
South Wales, I will be travelling back to the north-east via the areas of
Bourke, Brewarrina and Walgett. Are there any nice birding spots through
this reasonably vast region?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Michael Wood
