The Field Guide to the Western Birds (Roger Tory Peterson) and A Guide to Field Identification Birds of North America (Robbins et al) list the bird as Rivoli's Hummingbird the scientific name being Eugenes fulgens. Sibley's Guide to Birds calls it Magnificent Hummingbird -- same generic name. It might be worth considering the fact that the location of the net etc. was not definitely in California, it could well have been photographed in another State i.e. Arizona. Cheers Robbie Brown. ==============================www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.com To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: ============================= |
