We are 2 birders planning a family visit to Melbourne and West Gippsland
wishing to squeeze in some birding in the week between July 6th and 13th. In
particular, the American of the couple who has a much larger Australia bird
list than the closer trans-Tasman partner, would very much like to find
Orange-Bellied Parrots.

Have any been seen yet - far too early? Apart from Werribee, where else
should we try? How do we currently get (permission) to Swan Island? Are any
locals planning to go looking around the time of our planned holiday, and
could we join in?

ALso, we have read about Tarra Bulga and it sounds nice. What is it like for
birding? Any chance of Pilotbird there, or any other areas in the greater
Melbourne area towards (West / South) Gippsland?

We look forward to any suggestions with gratitude

Tom (US) and Gerry (NZ)
