Dear Birders,
While Little Penguines are a breeding species in Sydney Harbour it is only in
winter that one occasionally sees one upstream of the harbour bridge. On Sunday
afternoon there were three feeding just off the shore on the west side of Long
Nose Point, Birchgrove (about 2Km upstream of the bridge). They were, as usual,
drawing attention to themselves by their sharp bark. What I had not seen before
was their feeding behaviour close to the shore. The water was clear enough to
see them diving, apparently chasing small fish. One was still around yesterday
but much further from the shore.
Regards
Peter Marsh
