Hi All, re the reference to this species lying prone on the ground. I was watching some Masked Plover chicks that were crossing a road with their parents, a dog appeared on the scene, the parents sounded the alarm and the chicks dropped on their sides in the road whilst the parents went running away from them trying to attract the dog. The chicks laid in that position even though a versicle passed close to them and it wasn't until the parents called them after the dog had left that they moved. They wasn't very well camouflaged on the tarmac but obviously less obvious than running about. keith b the beautiful Hawkesbury 60km N/W of Sydney ==============================www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.com To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: ============================= |
