Some years ago Penny Olsen had (in captivity) a Collared Sparrowhawk that had lost an eye from an attack by a Pied Currawong. I don't actually know how that was known. Last week I saw an aerial interaction between these two species near my home in Canberra. Was not really clear who was the aggressor. Neither is nesting here at this time. I'd suggest that aggression between most raptors, currawongs, magpies, ravens is all pretty ordinary. Philip |
