Hi,
The Buff-banded Rail seems to be pretty reliable at this site, went at around
1630 today and saw two within five minutes, in plain sight feeding on the
grass. Had a similar list to John Graff the other day but also saw;
Yellow Spoonbill (1)
Pelicans (3)
Australian Shelduck (2)
Dusky Moorhen (7)
pretty remarkable for such a small lake surrounded by housing I thought..

Subject: RE: [Birding-Aus] Buff-banded Rails in metro Perth
Hi all,
Returned to the lake this afternoon. A single Buff-banded Rail was
present
but seemed far more flighty than last time. Unfortunately, the reason
quickly became clear; a cat prowling along the edge of the lawn.
Fortunately, the rail fled for cover and the cat did not seem
interested.
Did a brief check on what else was about;
Black Swan (1)
Pacific Black Duck (10)
Australian Wood Duck (8)
Australasian Grebe (1)
Eurasian Coot (5)
Purple Swamphen (4)
Buff-banded Rail (1)
Little Pied Cormorant (1)
Rainbow Lorikeet (heard)
Singing Honeyeater (5)
Willie Wagtail (3)
Silvereye (small flock)
Not a hugely inspiring list, but reasonable for a 5 minute visit
Cheers
John Graff
