Whilst I am sure many birders already support the Greens, one of the issues
we have to be aware of is public perception and the way in which things can
get blown up by those who oppose efforts to conserve things - recently Al
Gore was under attack as his house used more than the average amount of
electricity and that distracted attention from his message - using lots of
fuel in an attempt to raise funds for conservation - even if the amount is
negligible in comparison with "normal" birding activities and the activities
of people who indulge in other hobbies - is certainly a "weak spot" in the
conservation message that I hope most birders try and promote and one that
could be seized on by an idle newspaper reporter trying to get a cheap
headline!

Hello all,
Forget whether driving in twitchathons is ok or not, vote for Bob Brown
and The Greens, and make a real difference about big issues like coal
mining and deforestation that are REALLY going to screw our birds' lives
up.
