Hi all,

Just wanted to pass on my thanks to everyone that offered advice and tips on
birding sites in Yeppoon, QLD.

I had one full day of birding and thanks to some very helpful local birders
I managed to get three new birds to tick off the list; Bar-breasted
Honeyeaters (sighted at Lammermoor Gardens), Olive-backed Sunbird (found one
in the trees around the carpark at Rydges Resort) and a Squatter Pigeon (on
the road to Lake Mary).

The Lammermoor gardens were alive with birds, the wetlands behind the resort
were also very good (despite the lack of water), Boyds Plains (again, near
the resort) were good for Bush-Stone Curlews (always a favourite) and Lake
Mary was completely dry. I was very impressed with the viewing tower
overlooking the wetlands; it was great to be up that high with the scope.

Overall I had about 70 different species for the day with the highlights
being the 3 new ones and my favourite, Bush Stone Curlews.

Thanks & Happy Birding

Lee
