A Powerful Owl spent yesterday in a tree close to the house.

We've heard their distinctive call here a couple of times, but haven't seen
one in the garden before.

I snapped a couple of fairly close photos early on, then took more from the
verandahs, and I'm pleased to say that after our initial mutual shock, the
bird settled down and stayed put all day.

I've put half a dozen photos on the Abberton website - if you'd like to see
them go to http://www.abberton.org/birds2006.htm
