wherein the author describes Shane Parker's reaction after saying he had seen a
Night Parrot.
" Shane said that a smallish, plump green and yellow parrot with a short tail
had been flushed from under the feet and feeding heads of the camels.
It had risen several metres, flown a distance of some 30 metres, and dropped
down into the thick bassia again.
...... We ...... beat the whole flat ..... but to no avail. The bird must have
run on the ground in the fashion of a quail.
...... Shane, Malcolm, and John kept searching the area.
...... The sun was setting when the boys came in.
..... John Mason had flushed three more birds that fitted Shane's description.
Shane did not see them , but Malcolm's claim to fame is that he heard them fly
over his head before dropping again "

A station manager has related to me how he observed 2 fat budgies coming into
drink at his homestead bore each evening.
This was during a long drought.
At a later time, a retired employee of an adjacent Cattle station gave me a
credible description of similar sightings
