Yes the Rex Ellis sighting has been known to the birding world for a long time 
- I remember Shane Parker telling me about it in 1980. However, Rex contacted 
me as a result of the latest publicity. I made further mention of it because 
the wider community (and indeed many birders) would have no knowledge of it. 
Furthermore, I was interested to learn from Rex that he has continued to search 
the site without success.

Hi everybody -

Thanks to Greg Roberts for following up on this story.  I think, however,
that the suggestion that Rex Ellis's sighting is new to the public (implicit
in the subeditor's header) is misleading.  I believe that it was recorded
and mapped in the first Atlas of Australian Birds book (published 1984).
