Lorne states
"How many birding-aus members have been out searching for night parrots?
Very few I'd think."
Why are only those interested in birding enlisted to search?
I recall in 1983 when I was stationed in Cloncurry Western Qld. a representative of BOCA contacted me with the following request. Could I enlist the assistance of Truck Drivers, Bus Drivers in the Cloncurry area to report any sightings of the Night Parrot as a speciman had recently been located at Boulia. Due to the fact these people travel at all hours of the day and several times a week there would be a high likelihood that a sighting of a Night Parrot may be made. One thing missing at the time of the request an information pack to assist with knowledge of the target species.
