Hi all A Pink-eared Duck at Landcox Park, East Brighton, was the first to be seen there (as far as I know). One or two have been at Elsternwick on a few occasions since 2002. Great news for the locals is the return of Superb Fairy-wrens to the Ricketts Point area. They were first spotted on 13 Jan with a blue male and 2 others present near the Life Saving Club on 16 Jan. The last record I have for that area was 13 Jan 2005, and the last for the Sanctuary foreshore was 25 Sept 2005 (to the north of the Tea House). Let's hope the cause of their demise (I reckon Butcherbirds) does not operate again. This is the second time since 1990 that they have made a come back.
