Agreed; a fairer comparison might be to HANZAB: $2830 (less discount)...
If you don't need the comprehensive (as much as possible) set of CDs, the
regional CDs are excellent. I've used several of David Stewart's CDs and
the "Stokes Field Guide to Bird Songs" (North America, Eastern Region)
to swat up before trips. While I certainly couldn't identify many birds
purely on call, it made a huge difference in narrowing down what kind of
bird was calling - and avoiding the sensory overload of being bombarded
with a bunch of bird calls I'd never heard before.
