Reading through my earlier posting, with reference to our birdlist for 01
January 2007, I am painfully aware that the message was not as clear of
errors as I would have liked. To begin with I appear to have succumbed to
the Americanization of "gray" for "grey" as in Grey Fantail. Allow me to
add in all haste that Americanisms are perfectly acceptable - in America.
I am also concious of the ambiguity of the tally. The final list of 41
species was meant to include only those birds recorded in our 'backyard';
the Golden Whistler and Grey Fantail [recorded at Din Din State Forest] were
additional to that list [making 43 for the day]. In actual fact, only
moments after I'd hit the 'send' button, the Masked Lapwing called to make
the 'backyard' list 42 and the day's total 44.
Finally, I am aware that I overlooked adding my name to the message.
Profuse apologies. My only excuse is that I am returning to the forum after
a long absence; the cogs have clearly become a little rusty in that period.
