Does anyone know why so many of the smaller waders at Werribee (particularly
sharpies and stints) have injured or missing legs? Including 'mildly
disabled' eg a slight limp, I would say the proportion could be one in 20,
or perhaps even a higher proportion. The 'leg missing' ones are obvious in a
moving flock, because they proceed by hopping, standing out like kangaroos
in a mob of sheep. Is it possible the injured ones don't migrate, and
accumulate?
