Folks,
Just a quick update (roast lamb awaits!).
There are 3 Little Tern nests (1 with 2 eggs, 2 with 1 egg) at Penrhyn - will
Parks & Wildlife do anything? If not, they'll be quickly gone due to dogs, cats
and humans. The eggs should be transferred to the Little Tern breeding island
at Taren Point (10 minute boat trip across the bay) or the area fenced off and
signs erected. Parks and Wildlife have been advised last Friday...
Just after 6am this morning there was a Terek Sandpiper on the bay side of the
spit. It was somewhat timid and very vocal. It was seen from the spit, down to
past the old pipes. This was my first although one was seen last year by Phil
Straw (end Dec into January).
Cheers,
Graham
