Maybe this will fire up a few more people to get involved in trapping.
Save a hollow for a native species, and maybe pick up a mega-rarity while
you're at it.

Hi Birders,
While trapping Common Mynas in the "myna Trap" set up near a backyard
avairy, 3 blocks from the Coffs Harbour CBD,Craig Cassady and a friend
caught an unusal bird in the trap on 5/12/06.
They identified the birds as a Rose-coloured Starling, and upon googling
for
"Rose-coloured Starlings in Australia" saw the two hits of birds and
photos
at Broome. The bird they found resembled those birds. They contacted some
friends and the NPWS. The NPWS advised them to photograph and release the
bird, giving them permission to band the bird and take some feathers for
possible DNA analysis. The bird was subsequently released this morning at
0800 hrs this morning and has not been seen since.
Three photos are available which show an obvious Rose-coloured Starling.
Measurements will be sent to me indue course.
This I think is the 3rd Australian Record if accepted by BARC.
Rose-coloured
Starlings are not known to be kept as avairy birds in Australia.
