I have seen a Square-tailed Kite flying low over houses next to Lake
Wollumboola. Given their regular occurrence, I would imagine they may
nest somewhere around Nowra.

Well it was actually two birds together. I saw them circling the
carpark about lunchtime on the 14/02/06.
No I wasn't at the pub at the time. I was driving back from Lake
Wollumboola. I saw a single bird a little later in the day in the same
area circling over houses. The birds were quite low so I could see
their distinctive white faces. I also had binos.
I have seen SQTK on a few occasions whilst passing through Nowra. Also
the odd sighting further down the coast.
Alex Watson saw a SQTK in Nowra a few years back after travelling the
country with his father trying to twitch them. He was at Westfield
walking back to the car with his shopping when a SQTK flew over. He
dropped his shopping in the carpark and ran to the car for the binos. I
don't think his mother was to impressed about the shopping.
cheers
