Was there once a historical record of a Pheasant Coucal once at
Mallacoota in VIC?

Subject: Southern Limit of the Pheasant Coucal
Hi Birders,
Michael Jarman reports a Pheasant Coucal (not Pheasant-tailed Coucal)
50 km
NE of Cooma recently and questioned as to how far south they occur in
NSW.
Prior to 1981, the most furthest south they had been recorded was
Ulladulla
and Jervis Bay. However in recent years the most furthest south records
have
been at Gerringong 1995, Jamberoo 1999, Barren Grounds 2000, ie further
to
the north. They do have the ability to occcur in some seemingly
inappropriate locations as there are recent records for Narren Lakes and
Macquarie Marshes. So a bird 50 km NE Cooma is well and truly out of
range.
However as the observer does mention "Pheasant-tailed" maybe I could be
excused for asking whether it was a Coucal that Mike saw?
