And some of the "brown" statements that appear on this list also leave
much to be desired.
For those interested there is a substantial body of literature -
scientific and engineering - that raises many many more questions about
the logic and logistics of dam construction as a means of "solving" water
supply issues.
Yes this Hunter dam might give some bird species different/new ecological
opportunities: but it takes away more than it delivers to a broafer range
of species. The other key point is that a dam is not something that
exists in isolation from other equally destructive developments, including
extensive landclearing to house the people the Government intends to stuff
into the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie areas. That is why they want
the dam.
