Ring-necked Parakeets were conspicuous on both occasions that I was
fortunate enough to visit Kew Gardens - well worth it if you have a
day (or more!) to spare near Heathrow Airport. The number of exotics
in Kew Gardens and London parks, e.g. Regent's Park, made trying to distinguish what was tickable pretty futile.

A couple of birding highlights were:
* Magpie (Pica pica) - as infamous as Currawongs, but a stunning bird;
* Robin (Erithacus rubecula) - nesting in one of the glasshouses, which
  was a real buzz! Never mind the Amorphophallus titanus in flower...
  That said, like the American Robin (Turdus migratorius) it rates a
  distant second to the Australian *RED*-breasted robins for glamour
  (Scarlet, Red-capped and Flame Robins.)

A "low"-light was being alerted to Wood Pigeons around Westminster
by my non-birding colleagues; I'd foolishly ignored them as fat
Rock Doves...  :-)
